Where were you born?
I was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived in Williamsburg for the first 16 years of my life.
Where else have you lived?
Besides Brooklyn, I have lived on Long Island. I currently reside in a village home to a (moderately famous) prognosticating groundhog and one of the last cooperative farms on Nassau County.
What languages do you speak?
Unfortunately, I am solely proficient in English. While I studied both Spanish and Latin in high school and college, I did not keep up the requisite practice to be fluent in either language.
How long have you been at Touro and what’s your position?
I have been at Touro since the end of May. My position is library assistant for the Midtown campus library.
What is the part of your job that you enjoy the most?
So far, I am enjoying the process of learning about what is offered to students in the way of resources both online and present in the physical library. Whatever the discipline, there is a wealth of knowledge available to the school community.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
For as long as I have worked in libraries, making sure patrons are experiencing all the library has to offer has been challenging. The library is not just a place where books and media exist but a space for learning, collaboration, and community building. I don’t think this is too different in a college atmosphere. Hopefully, I can help move students and faculty in the right direction of accessibility, especially with extremely knowledgeable librarians to help.
Your ideal vacation?
I would love to travel to Scotland to see the Callanish Stones and hike the Highlands.
Any hobbies?
Attending theatrical performances both on and off Broadway has been a hobby of mine for a number of years. Also, I recently started cross stitching. It’s fun to finish a pattern you start and also a great time to catch up on podcasts.
Favorite food?
I have a fondness for Korean cuisine, particularly bibimbap.
Favorite sport?
While I cannot play a sport to save my life, I enjoy NCAA basketball. Is there anything better than March Madness?
Tell us one thing about yourself that most of us probably don’t know.
I know I am not unique in this respect but I enjoy true crime books and podcasts. I highly recommend Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe for a read and Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. for a listen.
